Zwanet Young is a PhD candidate within the SocialSelves Lab, at the section Clinical Developmental Psychology, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her PhD is part of the Growing Up Together in Society (GUTS) consortium, which aims to understand how young people grow up in a complex society. To address one part of this big question, Zwanet studies self-concept of 15–20-year-olds on both behavioral and neurocognitive levels. By combining behavioral and neuroimaging methods with ecological momentary assessment, she aims to uncover how self-concept develops in the adolescent brain, and how it relates to social cognition and social functioning.
